Many of us in Charlestown have really appreciated the Friday Farmers’ Market organized by the Charlestown Land Trust at the Charlestown Public Library. (Also on Facebook.) The market will be starting up again this year on June 17 and will be running each Friday from 9 am until noon through September 9.
But that’s not all!
With the success of the Friday morning market the Land Trust asked the farmers what they thought about adding another session on Tuesday evenings. They got an enthusiastic response so this year the Charlestown Land Trust will sponsor an additional Farmers’ Market on Tuesdays from 4 until 7 pm!
But that’s still not all!
Many of us have seen the Cross Mills Farmers Market sign that’s been put up across from the new Cross Mills Fire Station under construction.
No, that is not the new location of the market sponsored by the Land Trust. This will be yet another farmers’ market in Charlestown, run by Charlestown land owner and Massachusetts resident Katherine Tylawsky. Katherine has set up a web site and a Facebook page for the market. The Cross Mills Farmers’ Market is scheduled to open on May 28, according to the website.
Now we will have three market choices:
- Friday morning, library
- Saturday, new location
- Tuesday evening, library
The two new times will be much more popular with summer visitors to our town, working better for people who arrive on Friday night or Saturday.
I hope they can all be successful! The Charlestown Land Trust has started calling theirs “the original and authentic Charlestown Farmers’ Market.”
One last thing I recommend you check out: the Land Trust has created their own Farmers’ Market blog where they announce events and activities and post recipes and profiles of the farmers who contribute to your authentic and original farmers’ market. They don’t have many posts now but I expect it to ramp up as summer starts.
