Five Things To Do in Charlestown - June 1 through June 7 (UPDATE)

We might have some rain for the garden this afternoon soon, I'm hearing thunder as I write this, but I'm expecting great weather for the weekend. Work on that tan but remember "man does not live by tan alone" so here are a few activities for you to consider.
  • This is outside of Charlestown but worth the extra drive - The Shelter Harbor Inn is holding their monthly Wine Dinner this Friday night. You can see the menu here. The wine dinners are an off-season event so I think this will be the last one until the fall. We went to two of them this winter and they were great. If you really want to enjoy the wine they have special room rates for diners. A reservation is essential for this event.
  • The new Cross Mills Farmers Market will hold their second market of the season on Saturday from 10 am until 2 pm at 4219 Old Post Road, across from the new Cross Mills Fire Station.
  • The Rhode Island Antique Fire Apparatus Show will be at Ninigret Park on Sunday from 10 am until 3 pm. This will be a great family event with lots of stuff to see and will include live firefighter training in vehicle extrication and propane fire fighting.
  • Take a break from looking at the fire trucks with some rewarding volunteer work. Your Charlestown Community Garden at the Community/Senior Center in Ninigret Park needs volunteers to help plant vegetables and trees from 10 am until 3 pm on Sunday so hop over there for some dirty fun!
  • Charlestown residents, be sure to vote to approve the new beach facilities on Monday, June 6, between 8 am and 8 pm at the Town Hall. As my friend from Chicago always says on election day "vote early and vote often".
Don't grumble if I missed your favorite event this weekend, just post it as a comment.
