Our Parks and Recreation Director, Jay Primiano, has announced new evening events in Ninigret Park this summer. The Ninigret Concert Series and Ninigret Family Movies in the Park will provide new activities for residents and visitors alike and increase our use of the fine Ninigret Park.
These events are all provided free through the generous support of sponsors:
Chuck Wentworth, Rhythm and Roots Festival, Dan Crotty Auto Body LLC, Washington Trust Company, Charlestown Senior Citizens Organization, Nooney Controls, Ocean House Marina, the Charlestown Chamber of Commerce and the Charlestown Parks and Recreation Department.
The concerts will be performed 5:30 to 7:30 pm on the following schedule:
June 26 - Forever Young (Neil Young Tribute Band)
July 17 - Occidental Gypsy Jazz Band
July 24 - Johnny Nicholas Blues All Stars
July 31 - The Pegheads (Bluegrass Band)
August 14 - Superchief Trio (New Orleans Swing)
August 28 - Local Talent Night - Never Enuff, (and more)

Two movie night will be offered this year. Movies will begin at dusk, about 8 pm:
July 29 (rain date July 31) - Shrek Forever After
August 19 (rain date August 25) - How to Train Your Dragon
Camping, limited to Charlestown residents only, will be available for the first movie night. To reserve a camping spot (required) call 364-1222. Additional organized activities will be provided for campers.
When you come to these events bring your lawn chairs, picnic baskets, blankets, your own food, snacks and non-alcoholic beverages.
