State Dems hire new field director

NEWS RELEASE from the Rhode Island Democratic Party

Providence - RIDP welcomes Jonathan Boucher to the RI Democratic Party. Boucher will serve as field director for the state party, building volunteer capacity, working with cities and towns on outreach and training, as well as acting as intermediary on field matters between the state party and the DNC.

"Jonathan is an energetic, dedicated Democrat who will bring his experiences, strong work ethic and commitment toward expanding involvement within the Democratic Party," said Chairman Ed Pacheco. "I am so pleased to add him to our State Party team."

A Warwick native, Boucher graduated from the University of Rhode Island with a bachelor's degree in political science. Since graduating, he has been actively involved in Democratic politics and community organizing. Boucher was deputy field director for Frank Caprio, Democratic candidate for governor in 2010, and regional field director with the 2010 Rhode Island Democratic Party Coordinated Campaign. He most recently worked with Citizen Action of New York, fighting to eliminate budget cuts to education. Boucher has volunteered as a mentor for elementary and middle school students and for Barack Obama's presidential campaign in 2008.

"It takes more than just slogans and lawn signs to create positive change in the community, it takes folks being actively involved in the process, talking to neighbors, and getting them to vote," said Boucher. "I am thrilled to be working with the RI Democratic Party, organizing and energizing voters as we move toward 2012."
