Yankee Magazine features South County beaches

Some terrific Quonochontaug beach scenes....

The new issue of Yankee Magazine (July/August) due on the news stands this week features South County’s beautiful beaches on its cover and in a feature piece. It sings the praises of our gorgeous coast line to the point where it brings tears to the eyes of our local tourist promotion folks.

As Myrna George, President of South County Tourism Council told GoLocalProv, “South County really is a beautiful place,” George said. “It’s such a great tribute to Rhode Island to be featured in Yankee Magazine as we enter the peak of our summer months.”

In the free teaser Yankee offers on its website, you can see some great beach scenes from Ocean House in Westerly to the beaches in Narragansett. And there are several great slides of Quonochontaug. Now, I wonder if that’s good news or bad news, given the expressed antipathy toward visitors we’ve heard from some Quonochontaug property owners.

But it’s nice to see good publicity for Charlestown.
