The Governor’s visit began at 9 AM at the newly renovated and expanded Pat’s Power at 3992 Old Post Road. Governor Chafee went next door to visit new business Adare’s Boutique, where we stopped to see him at. Kathleen, the owner, was more than happy to speak with him and tell him about her shop.

“Rural coastal communities like Charlestown don’t get a lot of attention in Providence,” Rep. Walsh said. “We are very proud of our town and our efforts to encourage small business creation. We’re very pleased that Governor Chafee has made the time to see Charlestown and talk to our citizens.”

Governor Chafee also visited Oysterworks, the Charlestown Historical Society's 1838 schoolhouse and museum under construction and the new Charlestown Wine & Spirits building.

Today, Charlestown works hard to maintain the historic flavor of the area while encouraging small businesses to locate there and prosper.
