A 19-year-old Wakefield man went for a joy ride – with officer in pursuit – after he passed a patrolman doing 29 miles per hour above the speed limit.
When the officer turned on his lights to pursue the speeder, the man accelerated, took a sharp turn and momentarily got away. The officer caught up to him pretty quickly though, resting comfortably against a tree and fence he had just crashed into. He told the officer he fled because the car was not registered. Then he asked: “Do you think my insurance company will cover the cost of the car?”
