Read on for our recommendations for the next week.

We're going to have some wonderful weather - not too hot, not too chilly, not too much rain - so be sure to enjoy our wonderful beaches before the summer slips away.

  • This weekend you can visit the 336th annual Narragansett Indian Tribal Meeting, better known as the Pow Wow, on both Saturday and Sunday. Parking and a shuttle bus is available at the medical center at South County Trail and Old Mill Road. (In the past I have parked along Indian Church Road but the walk can be long.)
  • On Wednesday, August 10, the Kettle Pond Visitor Center (50 Bend Road) will host a lecture on The Basics of Raptor Identification with Dr. Bob Kenney, an experienced birder and naturalist. This presentation will help you to identify the eagles, vultures, hawks, falcons, harriers, and ospreys found in Rhode Island.
  • On Friday night the Cross' Mills Library continues their free summer concert series with Jon Campbell, Native Rhode Island songwriter, starting at 7 pm.
  • On Sunday night we have the next event in the incredibly successful Ninigret Summer Concert Series with Superchief Trio (New Orleans Swing). This will start at 5:30 pm in Ninigret Park.
  • On Monday night the Town Council is hosting their semi-annual Citizen's Forum where they want to hear from you. Bring your praise and gripes to Town Hall at 7 pm.
  • Those visiting town will appreciate hearing that we have these Farmers' Markets scheduled: Friday from 9 am until noon at the Cross' Mills Public Library and Saturday from 9 am until 1 pm at the Cross Mills Farmers' Market property across from the fire station under construction.
Looking ahead, the Washington County Fair starts on Wednesday, August 17.

As usual, links are provided in the this article and we have more information and more events in our Events Calendar.
