Things To Do in Charlestown - August 24 through 30

After last week's huge list of activities we have a slower week ahead. That leaves more time for beach visits and we should have lots of wonderful weather.

Read on for more.

  • On Wednesday, August 24, the Kettle Pond Visitor Center (50 Bend Road) is hosting a lecture on horsehoe crabs. These critters, which have been around since well before the dinosaurs, are in trouble. Find out more by attending this educational talk at 7 pm.
  • On Thursday, head up to URI to learn about the oceans of plastic.  At 7:00pm in the  in Swan Hall Auditorium (formerly Independence Hall), 60 Upper College Road, Stiv Wilson, freelance environmental journalist/photojournalist and Communications Director for The 5 Gyres Institute, will share his experiences from months spent at sea in areas covered in the remnants of our plastic.
  • On Friday the Cross Mills Public Library continues their Summer Concert Series with the Patterson Smith Trio giving us Jazz, swing and blues. This starts at 7 pm.
  • On Sunday night we will have the last event in the great Ninigret Summer Concert Series with Local Talent Night - Never Enuff (and more). This will start at 5:30 pm in Ninigret Park.
So, you see, you can spend your days at the beach and catch some interesting events in the evenings this week.

As usual, links are provided in the this article and we have more information and more events in our Events Calendar.
