Two new gadgets for Progressive Charlestown Readers

Track the 1% and the weather all on Progressive Charlestown
By Will Collette

Thanks to Tom Ferrio's technical skills and the whole team's work, we keep tweaking PC to improve its look and readability and to provide you with more useful information.

In addition to our coverage devoted to Charlestown - giving you the most in-depth news and commentary on Charlestown that you will find anywhere - we also have expanded our news and commentary offerings to cover more of the state and nation as well.

We've just added two new features -

Cost of Bush-era Tax Cuts to the Top 1%. With the permission of the National Priorities Project of Citizens for Tax Justice, we are now running a continuous count of the amount of tax revenue we are losing due to the Bush-era tax cuts for the Top 1% earners (as opposed to the 99%). The total cost to make the top 5% a whole lot richer tops $1 trillion.

Real-time Charlestown weather. Courtesy of Intellicast, we've added a sharp new weather gadget to give you real-time temperature, heat index, wind, rainfall and forecasts. On nasty days like today, it's nice to have a weatherman to know which way the wind blows.

Both of these new gadgets are high up in the right-hand sidebar (column). Now that Tom's worked up a wider, cleaner three column home page design, we have more space to offer you more features.

Let us know what you think about these changes and your suggestions for other features you'd like to see in Progressive Charlestown by sending an e-mail to progressivecharlestown@gmail.com.
