Things To Do in Charlestown - November 16 through 30

Thanksgiving is coming up and at Progressive Charlestown East we're working on our grocery list.

But we have also found some other interesting activities for your next two weeks.

  • On Wednesday, November 16, you can hear Gina Raimondo talk about the proposed pension legislation at the Chariho Middle School, at 5 pm.
  • On Saturday, November 19, St. Andrews Lutheran Church (15 East Beach Road) will be holding their Holiday Craft Fair from 9 am until 2 pm. The sale will include baked goods, live greenery arrangements, handmade ornaments, jewelry, crocheted items and more.
  • On Sunday, November 20, from 12:30 until 1:30 pm you can attend the Fashion Show of Cancer Colors, organized by Sandra Puchalski, at (The Haversham Inn & Tavern, 336 Post Road, Westerly).
  • Also on Sunday, November 20, the Wood-Pawcatuck Watershed Association (203 Arcadia Road Hope Valley) will hold a lecture on Bats in the Watershed from 4 pm until 6 pm. Peter August, Professor of Natural Resources Science at URI and WPWA Board Member, will review the diversity and natural history of bats in the Wood-Pawcatuck watershed. Special attention will be given to the current status of our most common bat, the Little Brown Bat, and White Nose Syndrome, the disease that is ravaging their populations in the northeastern USA. Register online or by sending an email.
  • On Friday, November 25, from 10 am until noon join the Turkey Trot at the Trustom Pond National Wildlife Refuge (1040 Matunuck Schoolhouse Road). Join Volunteer Sally Hanson for a great wildlife walk around the Refuge.  Maybe you’ll get lucky and catch a glimpse of a turkey that survived the Holiday!  For this walk, please meet in the Trustom Pond Contact Station parking lot.
  • If you want to walk a little closer to home, The Charlestown Land Trust is hosting a walk, at the same time, at the beautiful South Farm Preserve on Old Coach Road.
As usual, links are provided in this article and we have more information and more events in our Events Calendar.
