Here is your 2-week edition of suggested things to do in and around Charlestown.
- We have one more flu shot clinic scheduled in Charlestown - Thursday, November 3, from at St. Andrews Church on East Beach Road.
- On Saturday, November 5, the Wood-Pawcatuck Watershed Association is sponsoring a hike in Bradford's Grills Preserve. This two hour hike is on gentle terrain. Meandering along the Pawcatuck River, participants will enjoy seeing some lovely granite outcrops and an historic cemetery. Participation is free bu please consider making a donation to WPWA. - Also on November 5, The Audubon Society of RI is hosting a nature walk in the Kimball Wildlife Preserve and the Kettle Pond nature area. Registration is required, call (401) 949-5454 ext. 3041.
- On Monday, November 14, the Chariho Tri-Town Task Force on Substance Abuse will hold their regular meeting at 5:30 pm at the Chariho Middle School (Switch Road, Richmond). This meeting will include discussion of the Chariho student accident on October 23 and exchange ideas on how to prevent underage drinking. The public is welcome.
- Looking ahead, seniors should make reservations for the traditional Thanksgiving dinner on Friday, November 18 at 11:30 a.m. at the Chariho Career and Technical Center (459 Switch Road, Wood River Junction), presented by the Chariho Culinary Arts students. Reservations are required and must be made by November 10, phone 401-315-2864. This dinner is made possible by funding from the Chariho Community Innovative Projects Fund.
