Jim Mageau's War of the Words

A review of Mageau's latest science fiction short story
By Will Collette

Progressive Charlestown published former Town Council President Jim Mageau’s latest attack piece because, as a work of fiction, it needed to stay whole. Just quoting from it would not do it justice. This is as close to really classic Mageau as you are ever going to get.

So, before you read my response, please read Mageau’s attack first by clicking here.

Now my response:

  • First, I stand by what I write. I also put my name on it, though to his credit, so does Mageau, but that's where the commonality ends.

  • I carefully research what I write. I reference my sources and usually provide links to documents so the reader can judge the accuracy of my interpretation.
  • It would be nice if Jim Mageau did the same.
We’ve gone through this once before with Mageau. He wanted us to print all those wild and crazy charges against Frank Glista and others. We told him we would not print his charges without actual evidence. Instead of providing that evidence, he sent an attack letter to the Westerly Sun, which they published.

This time, we decided to give him a free shot, so we published his “letter” in its entirety without comment.

But that’s as far as it goes. Mageau, put up or shut up.
