Historical Society Meeting, January 24

The public is invited to the CHS Annual Meeting
The meeting will be held at 7 pm on Tuesday at the Cross Mills Public Library in the Champlin Room.

In addition to a review of the past year's activities and an overview of this year's plans there will be two presentations of interest.

Curt Smith, CHS Cemetery Committee Chair, will give an overview of the status of the Cross Mills Cemetery which the Historical Society has overseen for over 40 years. He will discuss the importance of the cemetery from an historical perspective and will reveal plans for conservation and preservation efforts going forward.

Also, as you may be aware, the "Mystery Ship" which has been embedded in the sand to the left of the Charlestown Breachway, has once again become visible and has brought many visitors and speculators to the beach. Dr. Kathy Abbass of the RI Marine Archaeology Project has been there to examine the structure and look for clues as to its origin. Either Dr. Abbass or Sandra Puchalski, who has been working with Dr. Abbass, will present a quick update on recent activities surrounding the ship.

Light refreshments will be served. So, come join your Historical Society for an evening of cheer and networking.
