The Dunn's Corners Fire Department is participating in the American Lung Association's Fight for Air Climb on February 25. You can help sponsor our DCFD team or individuals.
This important event benefits the American Lung Association's programs for children with asthma, teens who are pressured to start smoking, people with lung cancer and emphysema, and everyone who wants to breathe healthy air in our communities.
The Firefighter Challenge
A stair Climb is a unique event testing physical strength, stamina and lung power. The challenge is to climb the One Financial Plaza Building in Providence which has 29 floors which is 58 flights and 597 stairs. Dunn's Corners Fire Department must climb these stairs with the following gear: structural firefighting jacket, pants and boots, helmet & hood, air tank and mask. All this gear weighs approximately 60 pounds! And yes this is a race!
You can add your support by making a donation in the name of the team or one of the team members at this page.
DCFD members participating are Michael Frink, Michael Calcagni, Scott Campbell, Carl Johnson, Keith Moody, Nicholas Schilke, Rachel Schilke, Paul Senita and Jeffrey Thomas.
As I write this, the event is less than half-way toward their fundraising goal of $152,000. Please consider adding your donation. Your volunteer firefighters are working hard to make this event a success.
Note: The Dunn's Corners Fire District includes part of Charlestown, west of Wildflower Road. Of course you may donate to support the DCFD team even if you are not a resident of the District.
