Facebook users: TODAY, help the Jonnycake Center win a car to help area needy

Free, on-line voting “competition” – Toyota Highlander hybrid awarded to charity that gets the most votes
By Will Collette

Toyota is running an on-line competition on Facebook where it is giving away one brand-new hybrid SUV to whichever of five charities gets the most click votes each day for 100 days.

The Jonnycake Center of Westerly is up against four other charities on TODAY, Wednesday only, June 6. Click on Toyota’s “100 Cars for Good” site on Facebook TODAY ONLY. You will then see the Jonnycake Center lined up with its four competitors, like the illustration to the left.

Simply put - if the Jonnycake Center generates the largest number of Facebook votes on Wednesday, they win the car. So let's help them out.

Click on the Jonnycake Center to see information on the great work they do for people in Westerly, Charlestown, Richmond and Hopkinton and just go all the way through until you have cast your ballot.

You must have a Facebook account to vote.

The Jonnycake Center, like Charlestown’s RI-CAN and the WARM Center, has been swamped with a rising number of families and individuals in need due to the continuing slump in the economy.

Among the things the Jonnycake Center could do with the new car – provided we all help them win – is to deliver food and supplies to shut-ins and those unable to make it to their Westerly site.

It’s too bad the Jonnycake Center has to go into competition with other non-profits to get what they need, but as they say, it is what it is, so let’s help them win.
