Rep. Valencia kicks off re-election campaign with event on Monday

First term legislator with a solid record of achievement
By Will Collette

Rep. Larry Valencia (Democrat, District 39) wants to serve his District for a second term. Larry was, until redistricting, the state representative for the northern half of Charlestown, but after the lines were re-drawn, Donna Walsh now represents all of Charlestown.

Nonetheless, the Charlestown Democratic Town Committee voted unanimously on Monday to support Larry’s re-election campaign and to thank him for his hard work on economic issues, especially tax justice at the state level. The committee also thanked him for his support in the CDTC’s efforts tolower the property taxes for nearly all of Charlestown’s permanent residents through a Homestead Tax Credit.

Larry will host a campaign kick-off/fundraiser on Monday night in Wyoming at the Dragon Palace. Chinese food, not doughboys. I’ve eaten there and the food is great. The tickets are $25 a person

When: Monday, June 25th 6:30 to 8:30 pm

Where: Dragon Palace, 1210 Main StreetWyoming

Suggested Donation: $25 pp, includes hot appetizers (cash bar only)

Larry has a Republican opponent, Clay Johnson, who runs a day care center in Wakefield and is the Chair of the controversial South Kingstown Chamber of Commerce, though they prefer to be known by the presumptuous title of South COUNTY Chamber of Commerce.
