The only menu item I can tell you about at the Hitching Post is their lobster roll (read review here); if I'm there, that's what I have to have. Though mere words simply cannot do it justice. You'll have to read Tom's review to find out about their other selections. One of my favorite places to eat outdoors.
K&S Pizza is open year-round, but their Seafood Shack is only open till Labor Day. Get a lobster roll (read review here) or whole lobster for the bargain price of $11.99. Not to be missed. Also a great place to eat outside. Plus they deliver.
Normally, I avoid fried food, as it can wreak havoc on my digestion (not to mention my waistline). But at Johnny Angel's Clam Shack, they know how to fry. Everything is nice and light and crispy and not at all greasy. Proof their food is not greasy? You can reuse the paper bags they serve it in, they stay that dry.

(Side note: After losing concession rights at Blue Shutters to the Dog Pound last year, Johnny Angel's won concession rights to both town beaches this summer, so you can enjoy their fare at the beaches as well.)
Unfortunately, I have been unable to sample their lobster roll because it's been sold out every time I've gone. But everything else I've ordered in its place has been quite good. Their mozzarella sticks are excellent, and the marinara is tasty and fresh. The onion rings are also quite good. The chowder is New England style and quite tasty, seasoned with a little dill. The fried scallops (bay scallops) are nice and light and sweet and served with fries and a tasty tartar sauce. The fish and chips is a generous portion of fish, lightly battered and fried.
The crab cakes—well, when you've lived in Maryland for 16 years, you probably shouldn't even bother ordering crab cakes anywhere else, but I figured I'd give them a try since everything else was so good and once again they didn't have the lobster rolls. And they were actually quite good. I prefer them grilled rather than fried, but these were neither overly breaded nor overly seasoned and you could actually taste the crab. They probably would've been better dipped in a nice rĂ©moulade or something like they do in Maryland, but I used the extra marinara from the mozzarella sticks as a dipping sauce, and that worked.
Plus there's a lovely outdoor deck surrounded with flowers where you can sit and look out over Charlestown Pond. Just don't go fishing on Creek Bridge while you're there …
