(Westerly) Rep. Donna Walsh (District 36) presented the WARM Center’s past and present executive directors, Rev. Jean Barry and Russ Partridge respectively, with a $1000 check to support the WARM Center’s outstanding work to assist families and individuals in need.

The donation is a legislative grant secured by Rep. Walsh, one among many that she has gotten for local schools and nonprofit organizations.

The WARM Center helps Charlestown, Westerly and other area residents with food, temporary housing, job training and social services.

“In these hard economic times, we need WARM more than ever,” said Rep. Walsh. “I have supported WARM from the beginning and hope this grant will help them serve more people.”

Walsh continued, “I am especially impressed with the emphasis WARM places on helping people work their way out of poverty. They not only help people survive day-to-day hardship but also help people turn their lives around.”

Accepting the donation on behalf of the WARM Center, retiring WARM Executive Director Rev. Jean Barry said, “Donna cares for everyone.”

Representative Walsh represents House District 36, which covers all of Charlestown and Block Island as well as parts of Westerly and South Kingstown.
