VIDEO: Westerly students win public service video contest

Congratulations!

As part of a class project, Zoe Prescott and Bomina Belden of Westerly High School crafted a 30-second public service announcement that won the RI Health Department's inaugural "Say Yes to the Test" competition.

The video by Prescott and Belden emphasized the CDC statistic that one out of five Americans are infected with the HIV virus, but don't know it. Because they don't know they are carriers, they not only risk their own lives for lack of early treatment, but also risk infecting others.

The Health Department plans to integrate the students' video into their public health education program on AIDS prevention and treatment.
