Adventures in Carpooling

Woonsocket Police arrested a local woman for DUI after officers reportedly watched her run a red light and drive straight in a left-turn-only lane, all without wearing her seatbelt. The four children in the back of her SUV also were reportedly unbuckled.

After pulling her over, officers noted the woman smelled strongly of alcohol, but she ititially claimed she hadn't been drinking. When officers asked again, noting they could smell alcohol on her, she allegedly admitted to having a glass of wine.

She may have had a few more than one, as a breath test allegedly registered a .213 blood alcohol level, more than double the legal limit of .08. She was charged with driving under the influence and driving on a suspended license. DCYF was notified.
