A Family-Themed Breaking-and-Entering

When breaking into one of your properties without giving your tenant proper notice, it’s always great to take the kids along. It all began when the 38-year-old landlord called his tenant at 5 a.m. and allegedly told her to move out so he could move back in. (FYI: Rhode Island law states that tenants must be given a warning a month in advance of eviction.)

When the tenant refused to open the door for the man, he reportedly hoisted his 14-year-old son up the fire escape to bang on the bathroom window in an effort to catch her attention. He was charged with breaking and entering a house without consent, a felony, and disorderly conduct, a misdemeanor.

Fast & Furious: EP Style?

East Providence seems to have a speed demon who apparently doesn’t care for speed limits or other signs, including ones that say “Illegal to pass when red lights are flashing.” The 23-year-old man was allegedly driving his Honda motorcycle recklessly through the area, driving past a school bus that was dropping off children, and hitting speeds of 85 mph in a 25 mph zone.

An officer finally caught up to him soon after he allegedly sideswiped a car and then crashed to the ground. According to Speedy Gonzalez, he wasn’t speeding intentionally, telling officers that the throttle on his bike was stuck.

He faces charges of reckless driving, eluding an officer with a motor vehicle at a high rate of speed, speeding, failing to maintain control of his vehicle, running a red light, failing to stop for a school bus and driving left of center when he roared past the school bus

Alleged DUI Drive Hits Cop

One Smithfield woman hit the trio of bad life choices last week. Strike one: the 23-year-old woman was reportedly intoxicated while driving down I-295. Strike two: she crashed her car in an area where constructions crews were working. Rounding out the trifecta is strike three – what the woman crashed into.

According to a release from the State Police, she crashed her car into a trooper’s cruiser that was on detail at the construction site, knocking him unconscious. The trooper was brought to Rhode Island Hospital, where he is recovering, while the woman was put through a series of field sobriety tests, which she allegedly failed.
