A strong solar flare facing the Earth earlier this
week may bring us a rare display of aurora borealis, or northern lights,
overnight Wednesday into Thursday, according to reports.
"Anyone in the suburbs of Boston, New York City, Baltimore, Washington,
D.C., or Philadelphia has a chance at seeing this," said meteorologist
Mark Paquette on the Accuweather website. Rhode Island, obviously, is in the geographic region where the lights may be visible. And skies are expected to be clear over the state Wednesday night, giving stargazers a shot at seeing the phenomenon.
