VIDEO: Why no revolution?

Robert Reich Gives Three Reasons Why Americans Are Not Revolting Against Inequality
University of California Economics professor and former Secretary of Labor Robert Reich explains why, despite increasing income inequality and the dissolution of the middle class, Americans aren’t rising up and revolting.

He breaks down the specifics with three examples:

  1. The working class is paralyzed with fear it would lose the jobs and wages it already has.
  2. In past decades, students have enthusiastically protested civil rights, war and various other causes. Today’s students are laden with so much debt and the job market is so bleak, they choose not to tarnish a possible job opportunity.
  3. Finally, Americans have become so cynical about government, they do not think reform is possible.
If you think about it, this lack of action plays right into radical right’s (the Koch Brother’s) agenda. A nation of people who are economically oppressed, fearful and disinterested feel they are powerless against big money. Rather than fight back, they slowly begin to accept the planned, fascist takeover.

Reich explains that despite this dire news, change will happen anyway because evntually people will have had enough. It is a matter of time.

Why wait until it gets worse?

Use your power. Protest. Vote and do not allow a minority of billionaires to dictate YOUR future.
