Puck goes home

Mystic Aquarium Marine Mammal Rescue releases seal at Blue Shutters Beach

The good people at Mystic Aquarium completed another successful rescue, rehab and release mission this morning when they released Puck, a year old male Harp Seal, at Blue Shutters Beach.

Mystic is one of the East Coast's leading centers for taking in injured marine mammals and returning them not only to health but to their natural habitat.

More photos below the fold.

The Mystic Marine Animal Rescue program is a truly wonderful thing. They take injured animals from all over New England and nurse them back to health using state-of-the-art veterinary science.

Once healed and ready to go back into the wild, they bring the seals to Charlestown for release. Both of these seals are tagged with electronic monitors so marine scientists can learn more about their movements in the wild.
