Bristol - chip off the old block

Sarah Palin Takes To Facebook In Strange Support Of Brawling Bristol

As much as Sarah Palin loves to complain about the media, she never shies away from being the center of attention. You’d think that she’d hush up about the now infamous 20 person drunken brawl in which Palin’s eldest daughter, Bristol, was allegedly the first to throw punches.

Oh, but that’s too much to ask of Sarah Palin, who took to Facebook on Friday to defend her daughter and call her a “role model for strong women.”

It’s clear by the word structure that Palin wrote this Facebook post herself:

I love my Bristol! My straight-shooter is one of the strongest young women you’ll ever meet. I have to say this as a proud mama: right up there with their work ethic and heart for those less fortunate, my kids’ defense of family makes my heart soar! As you can imagine, they and my extended family have experienced so many things (liberal media-driven) that may have crushed others without a strong foundation of faith, and I’m thankful for our friends’ prayer shield that surrounds them, allowing faith to remain their anchor. Thank you, prayer warriors! I love you!
She’s a “straight shooter” and has a mean left hook, apparently, especially when drunk.

There are also a strange compilation of pictures, including one of Bristol shooting a gun.

Then she had a weird link to Bristol’s blog that talks about the liberal media reporting that her parents are divorcing.

I found only one source reporting it, Hollywood Life, which is hardly part of the “lame stream media.” They are basing the rumor on some pictures in which Palin is allegedly not wearing her wedding ring. I wouldn’t have even known about the divorce rumors if Bristol didn’t write about them in her blog.

Why did Palin come out now in defense of her daughter? A witness to the brawl, Roberta Thompson, spoke to Talking Points Memo, making Bristol out to be a violent instigator:
“What I saw was two girls run past and run towards Korey,” Roberta Thompson said. “And then I just saw Bristol Palin start punching him in the face.”
“It was quite, quite violent,” she added.
She said (home owner and party host Korey) Klingenmeyer was clearly upset about what was happening but maintained his composure.
“She kept punching him and then he just said, you know, ‘You need to go,'” Thompson said.
