Parks and Recreation Winter Programs

Check out these opportunities for children and, for adults, a disk golf competition in the snow (if we get any)

Keep boredom from setting in by having your kids learn tennis or express their artistic creativity.

And get out there and compete with frisbees in the snow!

Art Programs

Your Charlestown Parks and Recreation Department is offering two new Art Programs starting in January for ages 9 through 13.

1. A Youth Paint Night for ages 9 through 13 will be held on two Friday evenings, January 9 and February 6, from 6 to 7:30 pm at the Charlestown Community/Senior Center. This will be a fun group instructional art class using acrylic paints. The cost for each Friday evening class is $20 which includes pizza, water and art supplies. Children may attend one or both.

2. An Art “101” Six Week Art Lesson program. This is offered for ages 8 through 13 on Saturday Mornings at the Charlestown Community/Senior Center, from January 10th through February 14th from 10:30 am until noon.  The cost for the 6-week program is $60 and includes water and art supplies. During these lessons a sketchbook can be created from recycled materials to use for all of your artwork designed during fun classes. Each week a different art project, with an art show at the end of the program.

Julia Heinzmann, Charlestown's Summer Camp Director and an enthusiastic senior majoring in Art at URI, will instruct the two Art Programs.
