Introduction to Geocaching
April 19, 2015 from 1 to
3:30 pm
Do you like to go treasure hunting? Then you will enjoy
learning about Geochaching – a modern day outdoor treasurer hunt using a GPS
enabled device. Meet at the WPWA Campus, 203 Arcadia Road, Hope Valley,
RI, for a brief discussion. Then the leaders will take folks out to the Arcadia
Management Area to look for some of the many treasures hidden there.
This program is appropriate for anyone; families are especially
encouraged. Bring your Smart phone or GPS unit. Be sure to dress for the
weather - this is an outdoor program. Since we will be spending time in
the management area all persons should wear a minimum 200 sq. in. of
orange (a hat or a vest).
If you plan to use a GPS device, please go to https://www.geocaching.com and follow the
sign up instructions. If you plan on using a smart phone, go to the app
store and select the free Geocaching Intro App by Groundspeak Inc. and follow
the instructions. You should also review the rules of the game.
This program is free, but pre-registration is required. Register on-line
at www.wpwa.org/events. Donations are
appreciated.
