NARRAGANSETT, R.I. –The Inner Space Center at the University of Rhode Island’s Graduate School of Oceanography will offer an Ocean Science Exploration Camp for children ages 11 to 15 during April school vacation, April 20 through 24.

The weeklong day camp will focus on all disciplines of oceanography, including physical, geological, chemical, and biological oceanography, as well as the ocean technology used to explore the ocean. Campers will engage in hands-on activities, tune into live expeditions at sea, meet ocean scientists, and learn about different career paths.

The camp will take place at the URI Graduate School of Oceanography in Narragansett, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day. The cost of the camp is $395 per child and registration is required. To register, visit Ocean Science Exploration Camp or contact Holly Morin at (401) 874-6414 or holly_morin@uri.edu.

During the week, students will visit the Inner Space Center, an innovative leader in the field, advancing ocean science exploration, research, and education. It uses cutting edge technology, including telepresence communication technology, for ocean research, exploration, and education.

The center’s mission control provides portals for virtual ocean research, expanding the capacity for scientists to engage in real-time mission operations, while inspiring the next generation of ocean explorers. It brings the excitement of ocean discoveries to onshore audiences worldwide.
