Ribbon Cutting Ceremony Marks Occasion

Wild Grand Opening & Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

A ribbon cutting ceremony at Mystic Aquarium on April 7 marked the official opening of Exploration: Wild, a family-friendly exhibit that brings guests on a tour of the earth’s most captivating habitats. The interactive environment of Exploration: Wild features the sights and sounds of five distinct ecosystems featuring informational kiosks, hands-on engagements, daily films, and photo opportunities.

Speakers included Mystic Aquarium President & CEO, Dr. Stephen Coan, Executive Vice President Mission Programs, Katie Cubina, and Mark Katz, President of Distribution at National Geographic Studios.

“The million dollar investment of this exhibit is meaningful as Mystic Aquarium relentlessly pursues our mission. We invite our guests to immerse themselves in the sights and sounds of each of the ecosystem exhibits to learn how, together, we can preserve these vital resources.”

Vivid images, hands-on activities and fascinating animals lure visitors from adventure to adventure. Guests of all ages will enjoy getting a better understanding of the planet while displays and interactive kiosks reveal meaningful ways to help protect our planet.

For the first time, Mystic Aquarium’s Ocean Exploration Center will feature live animal exhibits including a brand new American alligator habitat, an expanded Scales & Tails exhibit, and desert creatures.

“We are especially proud of our American alligator habitat.” said Dr. Coan, “It highlights a conservation success story. This species was brought back from the edge of extinction to thrive in the wetlands around the country.”

Conservation is the key takeaway from the exhibit. Through Exploration: Wild, Mystic Aquarium seeks to connect with adults and children alike to raise awareness about global conservation through meaningful and fun engagements designed to spark action.

“Exploration: Wild brings to life our renewed focus on biodiversity and conservation.” concluded Coan.
