Another seal release in Charlestown tomorrow

Only a week after the last release, Mystic Aquarium's Animal Rescue Team set to do it again tomorrow, June 18

The good people at Mystic Aquarium's Marine Animal rescue program are kicking it into overdrive.

They have another Harp seal they will be releasing tomorrow morning at 11 AM from Blue Shutters Beach in Charlestown.

Click here for my coverage of last week's release.

Tomorrow's lucky critter is named Wasabi, a Harp seal rescued at nearby Ledyard, CT on April 19.

She is a 1-2 year old female now weighing more than 50 pounds.

When she was rescued, she suffered from dehydration, pneumonia and apparently had a bunch of rocks in her stomach.

Now she's good to go.

The public is invited to watch under the careful supervision of the staff and volunteers who know what they’re doing and seek to not only keep you safe but to also protect the seal.

Seal releases are great fun, thrilling even because you are seeing the fruits of a lot of hard work and dedication to protecting marine wildlife.

It’s a fine thing they do at the Aquarium so if you’d like to support their work, click here.
