 Explore the rivers this summer with these exciting programs from WPWA!

INTRODUCTION TO KAYAK PADDLING
June 27, 2015 Saturday, 9 am to 3 pm
This ACA Certified course for beginning kayakers will teach you what you need to know about safety on the water, basic paddling skills, and rescue techniques.  Be prepared to get wet!  You should come away from this 6-hour course with the knowledge and confidence to paddle safely on lakes and quiet rivers.  The fee includes kayaks and equipment.  Meet at the WPWA Campus, 203 Arcadia Road, Hope Valley, RI 02832.  Register on-line or call Denise Poyer at 401-539-9017 or email denisep@wpwa.org.  Only four openings left for the June program.  This same program will be offered again on Saturday, August 1, 2015 from 9 am to 3 pm.

ALMOST FULL MOON PADDLE
June 30, Tuesday, 7:30 pm to 9:30 pm
Let’s start off summer with a delightful evening paddle heading upstream on the Wood River from the WPWA campus.  Put your boat in the water as the sun sets and paddle back as the (almost) full moon rises over the river.  Along the way we will learn about the river's inhabitants such as dragonflies, tree swallows, and the plants in bloom. This easy paddle is suitable for all skill levels.  Meet at the WPWA Campus, 203 Arcadia Road, Hope Valley, RI 02832.  Register on-line or call Denise Poyer at 401-539-9017 or email denisep@wpwa.org.

LEARN TO FLYFISH
July 1, 2015 Wednesday from 6:30 to 9 pm
Learn the Zen art of casting a fly rod and placing your fly exactly where the trout will strike.  Space is limited to only six participants, so you will get fantastic instruction from passionate experts.  Fly rods will be provided or bring your own.  Meet at the WPWA Campus, 203 Arcadia Road, Hope Valley, RI 02832.   Register on-line or call Denise Poyer at 401-539-9017 or email denisep@wpwa.org.

BIOLUMINESCENT PADDLES
August 18, 19 or 20, 2015  from 7:30 pm to 9:30 pm
ONLY 10 OPENINGS LEFT ON THIS WILDLY POPULAR EVENT!
WPWA and the National Wildlife Refuge System are partnering to provide this fascinating experience on a salt pond in Charlestown.  In the summer bioluminescent comb jellyfish make their way into coastal waters as the temperature warms up. AUGUST ALMOST FULL MOON PADDLE
August 29, Saturday, 7 pm to 9 pm
For our second summer evening paddle we put in at the historic Kenyon Grist Mill in the small village of Usquepaugh, South Kingstown, RI.  This is a rare opportunity to paddle on the Queen River.  Cardinal flowers, Joe-pye weed, and boneset should be in bloom along the way.  With any luck we may catch a glimpse of one of the residents of the beaver lodges.  Begin your adventure as the sun sets & paddle back as the almost full moon rises over the river.
