WAKEFIELD, RI: On Thursday, July 9th in the Historic Village of Wakefield, RI, the public is invited to two great events. From 5 to 9pm, shops and restaurants open their doors welcoming shoppers & diners with samples and special offers along with carriage rides, raffles and much more as part of Ladies Night on Main Street.

And from Dusk to 9pm, RiverFire, with floating fire baskets lit on the Saugatucket River, is an arts celebration complete with an Arts-Walk and live music creating a community atmosphere. These are free, family friendly events though attendees and art exhibitors are asked to bring non-perishable food items to benefit the Jonnycake Center of Peace Dale.

The mission of the center is to improve the quality of life for individuals and families by providing comprehensive assistance to those in need of food, clothing, and household items.

RiverFire is produced by the Wakefield Village Association merchants and happens every Thursday through August. The live music performances are coordinated through the ‘1 of 52’ Hunger Network, a grassroots network of folks who use their unique talents in one week annually to help end hunger.

Recent performances were donated by local favorites Jason Colonies, Captain Mitch & Crew, & Sol Revival. Upcoming performances include Russ Partridge on 7/9, Someday Masquerade on 7/16, Glenn Dewell on 7/23, Chakulla & Friends with the Hunger Bus on 7/30, Trixie & Jimbo on 8/6, Daniel James Durand on 8/20 (8/13 & 8/27 TBA).
