Hometown week at Mystic April 13-20

A Cultural Celebration Featuring Special Appearances, Displays and Demonstrations by Locals

Mystic Aquarium shows their civic pride during Mystic Spirit Week beginning on Wednesday, April 13 with seven days full of music, demonstrations and more in celebration of all that makes Mystic, Connecticut great-right in the heart of it all. The wide array of events and activities run through Wednesday, April 20 to accommodate the variations in regional vacation week schedules.

From rich history to modern arts, a hardy fishing industry to picturesque sailing passages, from native roots of historic heroes to today’s champions for the planet, Mystic is more than a tourist destination. Mystic Aquarium will welcome local artisans, merchants, musicians, histories, heroes and more during Mystic Spirit Week.

Activities scheduled from 10am to 2pm daily will feature Mystic Aquarium’s local conservation programs, nautical knots from Mystic Knotworks, a blown glass art display from Jeffrey P’an Studios along with arts and crafts. Penguins CafĂ© will feature daily dining specials.

A host of indoor and outdoor activities, special appearances, displays and demonstrations are planned throughout Mystic Spirit Week. A full schedule is available at MysticAquarium.org. Demonstrations include sailing tips from New England Science & Sailing, special animal presentations by the Denison Pequot Nature Center, and floral cake decorating by Chef Eric Hirsh.

Kids of all ages will love touring trucks from Old Mystic Fire Department and Mystic River Ambulance as well as Stonington Police Department’s boat. Plus, there will be car seat safety and other demonstrations available to help ensure your safety. And, it all takes place right on the Mystic Aquarium campus.

Everyone is invited to get physical with CrossFit Mystic and Fred Astaire Dance Studio. Kids can craft beluga-shaped ravioli with Semolina Pasta Shop and take home their hand-made pasta for dinner.  Other local favorites being highlighted at Mystic Aquarium during Mystic Spirt Week include Fields of Fire, CT Cultured Oysters, and Mystic Noank Library.

There will be a special performance by Dancers Ink.  Live musical entertainment will be provided throughout the week and will feature the likes of Ben Freiert, Izzy Malek, the Marcy Kelly Trio, Mary McTeague and The Kelly Duo.
