Animal Spotlight: Charlotte the Green Sea Turtle
CharlotteCharlotte is our resident green sea turtle in Stingray Bay. After being struck by a boat, she had sustained injuries to her hind quarters which ultimately caused a condition known as 'bubble butt.' As a result of damage to her spinal cord, gas bubbles began to build in her intestinal tract, causing her to dive with her rear end up.

Pouches were secured to Charlotte's shell to hold weights that will help her learn to swim more naturally. The dedicated team working with Charlotte is happy to report this therapy seems to be helping! Charlotte's trainers have noticed improvements in her flipper stroke, shell structure and swimming habits.

You Can Help

Make wildlife work for you! Instead of using chemical pesticides to treat unwanted garden pests, try making your garden a haven for natural predators. Decorate old planting pots and place throughout your garden to create abodes for toads, which are natural predators to those pesky and unwanted garden insects.
