Perishable Food Donations Reduce Food Waste

Employee packing produce for food pantry
Through our Retail Rescue program, our Food Donations Manager connects retailers with agencies to get perishable food like meats, dairy, fresh produce and baked goods to those who need it most, helping to ensure that no one in Rhode Island goes hungry. At the same time, the program reduces the amount of food going to waste. It’s a win-win.

Holiday Food Drive Yields Increased Donations

Woman and son donate grocery cart of food
The Food Bank collected 30,000 more pounds of food through this year’s Holiday Food Drive than we did last year! The community’s donations of healthy, non-perishable food items help us provide food assistance to 59,000 Rhode Islanders every month. Thanks to everyone who helped make this drive an incredible success!
