Andrew
Puzder, the textbook definition of a bad boss, could soon be running
the Department of Labor. And it’s up to us to get the word out about
his shameful record.
Instead of
standing up for working people, President-elect Trump selected the fast-food
tycoon as his pick for Secretary of Labor. Puzder is a CEO with a
record of breaking labor laws, yet Trump wants him in charge of
protecting working Americans and enforcing workplace standards. It’s
all part of Trump’s plan to stack his cabinet with billionaires and
corporate insiders who make profits their priority.
Here are
just a few reasons why Puzder is an adversary of working people:
- He’s repeatedly argued
against
meaningful increases to the minimum wage or overtime pay for the
working people who make his burger chains so successful.
- Under his watch, Hardee’s and Carl’s Jr.
restaurants have been sued for millions in wage theft cases.
- The millionaire, fast-food CEO even has
complained about the need for providing rest and meal breaks in the workplace.
- He speaks glowingly of robots taking away jobs.
Puzder has said he’d be interested in replacing the people
who work at Carl’s Jr. with machines, partly as a way to
avoid paying decent wages and benefits, or being held accountable
for poor working conditions.
