Volunteer needed

Wild and Scenic Rivers
Study Committee Volunteers Wanted
Attention Residents
from
Charlestown, Exeter, West Greenwich, Westerly & Richmond, RI; Voluntown & Sterling, CT
The Wood-Pawcatuck Wild and Scenic Rivers Study Committee is looking for local residents with a keen interest in working towards the protection of the Beaver, Chipuxet, Queen, Wood, Pawcatuck, Green Falls, and Shunock Rivers in the Wood-Pawcatuck Watershed.

The Wood-Pawcatuck Wild and Scenic Study Committee is entering a critical phase of the three year study - identifying the Outstandingly Remarkable Values of the rivers under study. Representatives from all the watershed towns, appointed by their local government, are needed to help with this important work.  Each town may appoint up to 2 residents.  Currently we have one opening in the towns of Exeter, West Greenwich, Westerly, Richmond, Voluntown, and Sterling; and two openings in Charlestown.
Responsibilities include participating in committee and subcommittee meetings, about once or twice a month;  reviewing and commenting on documents and reports; and reporting to your town. To learn more about this study go to http://wpwa.org/wildandscenic.htm.
We need knowledgeable local people from all walks of life who care about the rivers.  No need for scientific expertise; just your passion and commitment to preserving the special rivers in your town for future generations.  Coordination for this project is provided by WPWA and the National Parks Service.  Contact Denise Poyer for more information: denisep@wpwa.org or 401-539-9017.
