Turn Off Channel 10 News

Sinclair Is Trump Propaganda
By Beth Comery in the Providence Daily Dose

Image result for sinclair broadcast group propagandaFans of the Olympics are spending lots of time tuned to NBC.

Unfortunately, unsuspecting viewers may suddenly find themselves accidentally listening to pro-Trump propaganda once the network breaks for the “local” news at 11 pm. (Assuming that updates about Benghazi can be considered either local or news.)

WJAR's owners, Sinclair Broadcast Group’s notorious must-run segments are bare-faced Trumpist propaganda.

It’s time to put Channel 10 News out of business.

There are good people on that staff, but they need to get their resumés together and find new employment. They must be miserable.

New wrinkle: The New York Times (2.16.18) reports that FCC inspector general, David L. Hunt, will be opening an investigation into whether FCC Chairman Ajit Pai has been helping to grease the skids for Sinclair’s proposed purchase of Tribune Media.
By the end of the year, in a previously undisclosed move, the top internal watchdog for the F.C.C. opened an investigation into whether Mr. Pai and his aides had improperly pushed for the rule changes and whether they had timed them to benefit Sinclair, according to Representative Frank Pallone of New Jersey and two congressional aides.
Sinclair already owns more television stations than any other broadcaster in the country. If the merger is approved it would reach 72 percent of all households (Mother Jones).

The Times notes,
Antitrust experts said this new investigation may complicate the reviews of the Sinclair-Tribune deal by the F.C.C. and the Justice Department. Even if the deal were approved, they said, any conclusions of improper conduct by Mr. Pai could give fuel to critics to challenge the review in courts.
We first wrote about this last September, and we will keep reminding you. You can join the conversation at #turnoff10.
