At nearly 700 million years old (according to
new fossil records), the comb jelly is in fact, not a true jelly
- it's not even a close relative! Much unlike a true jelly,
comb jellies don't have stinging cells. Another unique
feature is the eight rows of cilia - or combs - that run
along their bodies. These combs help propel them through
the water and look like a rainbow current.
