Heat or eat?

Heat or Eat?
What Would You Do?

This winter, one-third of the people we serve will have to choose between buying food and paying their heating bill. Many of those who visit food pantries are working but still can’t make ends meet.  With your support, we can provide them with nutritious food so no one has to make such a difficult choice.

Elise gets the ingredients for chili when she visits the East Greenwich Interfaith Food Cupboard.

"I Didn't Always Need Help"

I budget $100 per month for food but try to spend less than that. Some months, it can get toughI am just so grateful to have this. I didn’t always need help. I had a good job. I had what I needed. Sometimes, things happen.

Elise is a former nurse who now relies on disability payments as her primary source of income. She does not qualify for SNAP food assistance so she has to budget for food very carefully or she'll be unable to pay other expenses like heat or utilities. She relies on the East Greenwich Interfaith Food Cupboard to help stock her shelves when she needs it. Visit our website to read about Elise and other guests like her.
