Planning Ahead With Governor Lamont’s recent announcement on Connecticut’s reopening plans, Mystic Aquarium is working diligently to implement protocols that ensure the health and safety of our staff, guests and animals with the goal of opening as soon as it is safe to do so and in accordance with the Governor’s Executive Order. We will do our best to communicate to with our community as developments unfold. We also invite you to stay tuned to MysticAquarium.org and follow us on social media.

Animal Spotlight In our Animal spotlight, we are, once again, highlighting Charlotte, the green sea turtle. If you’re a regular to Mystic Aquarium or an avid social media follower, you undoubtedly know about Charlotte. So, why an additional spotlight? The team of animal care professionals have recently embarked on a new project with the goal of advancing Charlotte’s welfare. To address her injuries and resulting positive buoyancy, steps have been taken through the years to find solutions. While the visible weight packs that adhere to her shell help to normalize her swimming position, they cause other challenges for shell health. Upcoming Virtual Events Chick’s First Swim Next week be on the lookout for a Facebook Live featuring the penguin chick’s first swim. From a fluffy hatchling to fully-fledged chick, you’ve watched the early journey of the fifty-ninth African penguin in our colony. Join us for the next milestone, when purple/pink takes its first swim and joins the rest of the colony. Penguin enthusiasts will have one last chance to submit their nomination to finally give Purple/Pink a ‘formal’ name. Click here to make your donation and submission. Submissions will be accepted until 11:59pm on the night of the first swim.  Cocktails with Conservationists Much of our content has been focused towards children and families. While that will continue to be a priority, we are also working on fun and informative virtual content for a wider audience. Be on the lookout for a new feature, Cocktails with Conservationists, coming soon! Other programing will be announced in the coming days and weeks as well.  Plus, family-friendly conservation challenges are coming your way! Stay connected, keep conserving!!
