Today, the RI Department of Environmental Management issued its first Weekly Mosquito Advisory that tracks any discoveries of West Nile Virus or Eastern Equine Encephalitis in traps DEM has positioned around the state. There were no infected mosquitoes found in these first batches.
Massachusetts is already finding infected bugs, reporting its third EEE finding.
But we can be all but certain they will show up as the summer progresses. The mosquitoes are certainly around (got bite twice on the hands while walking down to my mailbox).
