Endorsement honors Langevin's fight to protect Social Security and Medicare
Members of the Alliance for Retired Americans proudly announced their endorsement of Jim Langevin for reelection to represent Rhode Island's Second Congressional District.
The Alliance is a grassroots advocacy organization with nearly 12,000 members across the Second District of the state.
"I am honored to have the support of the Alliance for Retired Americans and will continue to defend the interests and livelihoods of older Americans in Washington," said Langevin.
“The Alliance of Retired Americans is deeply respected for their leadership in preserving crucial programs that retirees depend on. I intend to continue working closely with them to ensure Americans can retire with dignity and security."
In making their endorsement, Alliance members underscored Langevin's service as a Member of Congress who understands the issues facing seniors and retirees. Langevin, who was recognized as a 2020 Rhode Island Alliance for Retired Americans Social Security and Medicare and Medicaid Hero, has earned a lifetime score of 99% in the Alliance Voting Record.
“Representative Langevin has proven that he will fight for Rhode Island retirees in Washington. He has earned a lifetime 99% pro-retiree score in the Alliance’s annual Congressional Voting Record,” said Richard Fiesta, executive director of the Alliance for Retired Americans.
“The 11,700 Alliance members in his district trust him to keep fighting to expand and protect our hard-earned Social Security and Medicare benefits. He stood up to the powerful pharmaceutical industry, voting to lower the prices of prescription drugs and cap out-of-pocket health care costs for seniors on Medicare. We are proud to endorse him."
Langevin was also previously honored as the 2013 Rhode
Island Alliance for Retired Americans Social Security and Medicare and Medicaid
Hero for his outstanding leadership and support for Rhode Island seniors,
disabled and veterans.
