Cozy Homes For African
Penguins
Dec. 1st
kicked off African penguin nesting season at Mystic
Aquarium! Over the next few weeks, we will share the
variety of penguin behaviors and care practices. Early this
month, nesting pairs receive materials to begin building
their nests. Follow our social media for nest building and
other activities occurring in the penguin colony. While
penguin nesting season is exciting, new penguin chicks are
not guaranteed. However, we will keep everyone updated if
the colony expands!

Shelter from Chilly Nights
in the Aquarium
Explore
Mystic Aquarium deep into the night during a private
overnight experience. Witness how animals behave when the
gates close and the lights go out. Your Aquarium hosts will
provide themed educational programing perfect for scout
troops, families, schools, and any other group of up to 60
people. In the morning, you will enjoy breakfast and a tour
of outdoor exhibits. Although educational programming
activities are geared for youth ages 5-12, programs can be
tailored to meet your group’s needs.

A Sweet Shrimp to Have
Around
House
cleaning is the life of peppermint shrimp. As scavengers,
the shrimps feed on debris and parasites from larger
animals. This behavior helps keep coral reefs and their
habitats clean, making the shrimps useful at Mystic
Aquarium. The peppermint shrimp receives its name from the
coloration on its body!
