One of these will be on your car eventually. I’m finding it hard to pick a favorite.
At any rate, the Rhode Island Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV) has launched its “RI State Plate Design Contest” and now you get to choose.
One
thought: License plates are primarily for the use of the police (and speed
traps) and they must be clearly legible and easily differentiated from other
license plates on the road . . . for instance, our own outgoing plates.
From
a distance, the one in the lower left hand corner might look a bit too much
like the outgoing plate.
The
winning plate will become the new state-issued plate design, replacing the
current “Blue Wave” design, which has been in circulation since 1996.
Voting
period began Monday, March 14, and ends March 28, 2022 at 11:59 pm.

This should not have been a popular contest. (I shared my thoughts on this in February.)
The DMV has refused to release all 900+ submissions, but
will after the winner has been chosen. (They have to.) I kind of look forward
to seeing just how bad this got.
