Recognized for Protecting Victims of Domestic Violence
General Treasurer and congressional candidate Seth Magaziner earned the endorsements of Everytown for Gun Safety, the largest gun violence prevention organization in America, recognizing him for his work protecting victims of domestic violence by helping to pass red flag laws and expanding the Rhode Island Crime Victims Compensation program.
“Poll after poll shows that voters are looking for candidates who will champion common-sense laws to keep guns out of dangerous hands,” said President of Everytown for Gun Safety Action Fund John Feinblatt. “Ending our gun violence epidemic requires passing strong gun laws, and that requires electing strong gun safety champions like the candidates we’re endorsing today.”
In stark contrast, Republican opponent Allan Fung has stood against common-sense reform like bans on assault weapons and Rhode Island’s red flag law. Fung just earned an A rating from the NRA and also received As in 2014, 2018.
Treasurer Magaziner has also been endorsed by the Brady PAC, Giffords PAC, Rhode Island Coalition Against Gun Violence, and was recognized by Moms Demand Action as a “gun-sense candidate.” Treasurer Magaziner proudly received an F from the NRA this year.
“We can end the gun violence epidemic once and for all in America, but only if we elect candidates who support reform,” said congressional candidate and General Treasurer Seth Magaziner.
“Unlike my opponent who consistently has chosen to stand with the gun industry, I’ve represented the values of Rhode Islanders, working with local advocates to protect victims of domestic violence and passing common-sense reform to keep guns out of schools. I look forward to bringing those same priorities to Congress.”
As General Treasurer, Magaziner helped thousands of victims of domestic violence relocate from their abusers, and worked to pass red flag laws, ban guns from school grounds, and limit high-capacity magazines.
Magaziner divested the state pension from the manufacturers of assault rifles for civilian use, took action against Mastercard to crack down on online ghost gun sales.
