AIR QUALITY ALERT IN EFFECT FOR THURSDAY, JUNE 20, 2024

Hazy, hot, and humid conditions are forecasted for Wednesday and Thursday. SW winds, strong June sunshine, and some fire smoke aloft elevate ozone into MODERATE category for northern and central RI, GOOD for southern and coastal areas.

Fine particles will also be MODERATE around Providence Wednesday, GOOD elsewhere. Temperatures run in the low 90s inland on Thursday, cooler coastal. WSW flow raises ozone to UNHEALTHY levels in northern RI, the Providence area, and upper portions of the east bay.

MODERATE ozone expected for southern and coastal areas. On Friday, ozone levels return to MODERATE around Providence and stay GOOD elsewhere.
