The CHS Museum & 1838 Schoolhouse are open and enjoying visitors, both local and from afar. The old schoolhouse has been a time capsule for young and old, showcasing a simpler period in Charlestown's history where there were once eight schoolhouses in session during the 1800 and early 1900s. Although a few remain which have been incorporated into newer structures, the CHS schoolhouse is the only authentic building that still stands in its original state.
Stop by to visit us on Friday or Saturday mornings starting at 10:00 AM, and bring your family and friends to enjoy this treasure. Pictured below is the District No. 2 Schoolhouse, once standing near the Wilcox Tavern. It was moved to Cross' Mills in 1972, where the CHS lovingly restored it and opened its doors in 1973. |
