This Salt-Water Fly-Tying class is designed for the intermediate student who wishes to expand their skills. WPWA will supply modern techniques, equipment and materials during these four classes. Fly Tying can be described as manufacturing and mimicking the food of the fish, the angular wishes to fool. This class will allow the students to learn the techniques and skills to a variety of salt water flyes. The flyes to be tyed are:
Easy Albie Hooker Fly (J Gnovesi)
Yellow Rebel Fly (R Bondorew)
Rhody Flat Wing ( Peabody)
Bulk Head Fly (J Torres)
This class starts in Hope Valley, RI at 6:30pm, is 1 ½ hours long, running for four (4) consecutive weeks on Monday, 9/9, 9/16, 9/23, 9/30. In case of bad weather, the instructor will make a judgement on the side of safety and reschedule the class. The class is restricted to 6 students, aged 12 years and older. Registration is required, and closes on 9/9/2024 The cost is $55.20, and can be paid via check or online upon registration.
Instructor Jeff Perry, is past President of United Fly Tyers of RI, a Lifetime member of Trout Unlimited, a Certified Casting Instructor, a Bronze Certification Tyer, and the North Eastern Council Fly Tying Coordinator for Fly Fishers International, an active member of Rhody Fly Rodders, a volunteer instructor for the RI Dept of Environmental Management Aquatics Education Division, a L.L. Bean Casting Instructor, RI Salt Water Anglers Association member, earned a Master’s in Education, and other (un)complementary titles.
